The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office said June 12 it has officially inaugurated and turned over a new road project, worth P39.6 million, in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan town.

The project included the construction of 1,754 linear meters of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP), structural concrete-reinforced box culverts, stone masonry for road protection, and reflective thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure visibility and the safety of motorists.

DPWH6 director Sanny Boy Oropel said the new road is expected to have a high impact on the community and properties in the two barangays it connects, significantly improving travel time and safety measures.

It symbolizes our commitment to progress and our dedication to ensuring that every journey is safe and convenient,” Oropel said in a statement, adding that a shorter and more reliable route will likely benefit the locals.

He added that the agency remains committed to fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life of Negrenses. ||
