Himamaylan City broke ground on the 5.90-kilometer farm-to-market road in Barangay Carabalan, worth P140 million, Jan. 9.
This Philippine Rural Development Project of the Department of Agriculture will connect Sitio Labhid and Sitio Casipungan, for a faster and safer access of farmers and producers in upland Himamaylan, Mayor Raymund Tongson, who led the groundbreaking ceremony with DA Negros Island Region executive director, Engr. Albert Barrogo, said.
Tongson also led the inauguration of the Swine Multiplier Farm and Techno Demo Farm, worth P10 million, in Sitio Culban, also in Barangay Carabalan.
The project, funded under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion program of the DA, intends to support local hog raisers affected by African swine fever in Negros Occidental.
The tour of the new state-of-the-art facility was also attended by Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Placeda Lemana, Board Member Anton Occeño, and officials from the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 6, the city said. ||
