More than 70 percent of public elementary and high school students in Bacolod City already received their free school supplies from the local government, with distribution expected to wrap up shortly if weather conditions permit.
Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said the distribution of free school bags and Physical Education uniforms to public schools across the city is nearing completion.
The distribution encountered a two-day delay due to recent inclement weather, but operations immediately resumed after conditions have improved.
Gasataya clarified that standard school supplies were already handed out to all students on the first day of classes June 8.
The remaining items being distributed are school bags and uniforms, which are tailored by grade level.
Meanwhile, the city government is also processing the distribution of free school supplies to Bacolod students enrolled at the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS).
City administrator, Atty. Mark Steven Mayo, said they are finalizing the specific items to be included in the sling bags for these students.
Mayo said this marks the first time that NOHS students residing in Bacolod will receive such assistance.
The NOHS has always been excluded in the distribution as it is under the Schools Division of Negros Occidental. | TMD
