P11-M in shabu seized in NIR

Four suspects were arrested and P11 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in four separate buy-busts across Negros Island Region on June 18 to 21.

The biggest recovery was recorded in Manapla, Negros Occidental, where policemen confiscated 820 grams of suspected shabu valued at P5.57 million during the operation in Hacienda Busay, Barangay Punta Mesa on June 20.

The arrest of suspect “Jay-Em”, 19, and seizure of illegal drugs were carried out by operatives of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit with support from the Regional Special Operations Group and the Manapla Municipal Police Station.

Operatives also  seized the sachet of suspected shabu sold during the operation, marked money of P1,000, a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle,  and P20,000  cash believed to be drug proceeds, the police report said.

In Bacolod City, the arrest of alias “Ren,” a 21-year-old senior high school student, at Purok Nami-Nami, Barangay Banago on June 21 led to the confiscation of about 300 grams of suspected shabu valued at P2.04 million.

The operation at Purok Sigay, Barangay Singcang-Airport resulted in the recovery of 51 grams of suspected shabu worth P346,800 and the arrest of alias “Jack” on June 19.

In Negros Oriental, alias “Gerick,” 31, of Zamboanga City was arrested in Purok 5, Barangay Liptong, Valencia on June 18.

His arrest yielded 511 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P3.4 million.

In a statement, PRO-NIR Acting Director PBGen. Romano Cardiño commended the operating units for the successful operations, adding that strong police-community partnerships and timely information sharing remain vital in sustaining the momentum of the anti-illegal drug campaign.
