The pump prices of petroleum products will continue to decrease next week, as oil companies announced a rollback of P0.50 to P0.70 per liter for diesel, P0.40 to P0.60/L for gasoline, and kerosene by P0.60 to P0.80/L.

This will be the third consecutive week of rollbacks for diesel and kerosene, and the first for gasoline, following downward movements of P0.40/L and P0.70/L for diesel and kerosene, and a P0.10/liter hike for gasoline, effective July 23.

The exact price rollback this week will be known today, July 29, as oil companies regularly implement the adjustment every Tuesday.

The Department of Energy said that it logged a net increase of P7.75/liter for diesel, P0.50/liter for kerosene, and gasoline by P10.35/liter, since the start of this year.

It, meanwhile, urged all liquid fuels retail outlets (LFROs) in areas affected by super typhoon Carina to promptly assess the quality of their fuel products stored in underground tanks post-flooding.

“LFRO operators must conduct immediate quality analysis of fuel in underground storage tanks. If contamination is detected, selling from the affected tank must stop until remedial actions are taken and contaminated products are replaced,” the DOE said in a statement.

LFROs are urged to sell only fuels compliant with Philippine National Standards and the Biofuels Act of 2008 to uphold fair trade practices and maintain product quality, it added. | CGC
