The New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility for the death of a former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on May 19.

In a statement, rebel spokesman Dionesio Magbuelas alleged that the victim, Joseph Agustin, 38, served as a military informant of the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion.

Police investigation showed that Agustin was on his way to Purok Vanda from the poblacion when an unidentified gunman fired at him several times.

Magbuelas said that Agustin had been a member of the RPA-ABB in 2014 and supposedly became an intelligence asset and served as a guide in military operations. | GB
