Malacañang has declared tomorrow, July 25, as special nonworking day in the City of Tanjay in Negros Oriental.

Proclamation 592, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, states that Tanjay will mark the celebration of the Sinulog sa Tanjay Festival on Thursday.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Tanjay be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Bersamin said.

This as local officials and guests converged at Osmeña Park in Tanjay July 19 for the “Garbo sa Kabisay-an” tourism roadshow, which was a grand display of local and national talents aimed at bringing joy to residents of the city.

The event, initiated by executive director of the Tourism Board of Negros Oriental, Woodrow Maquiling Jr., was aimed at highlighting the mission-vision of Governor Chaco Sagarbarria for the province, the Capitol said in a press release.

Sagarbarria, who attended the night of talent showcase and fun, emphasized his focus on tourism development through initiatives, like showcasing local talents in roadshows, such as then “Garbo sa Kabisay-an”.

He also discussed plans to improve government services by constructing a new government center and enhancing healthcare interventions, through the establishment of a new medical city for NegOrenses.

The tourism roadshow was not only a celebration of talent but also a demonstration of the governor’s dedication to uplifting Negros Oriental through strategic development initiatives, the Capitol added.

Other guests included Dumaguete City Vice Mayor Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, 2nd District Rep. Manuel Sagarbarria, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, and key officials from Tanjay City, led by Mayor Jose “Pepe” Orlino. | CGC
