The average residential rate of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative this billing month of January increased by P0.4870 per kilowatt-hour, mainly due to upward adjustments in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) pricing.

This means that Noneco member-consumers in the cities of Cadiz, Victorias, Sagay, Escalante, and San Carlos, as well as the towns of Toboso, E.B. Magalona, Calatrava, and Manapla will have to pay P12.3865/kWh, from the P11.8995/kWh in December.

“Bangud ini sa pagtaas sa bahin sang market price sang kuryente sa WESM ukon merkado sang kuryente, halin sa P6.0327 pakadto P6.5169, o pagtaas nga P0.4842. May ara naman pagtaas nga P0.1439/kWh sa fuel fee sang Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC),” Noneco said in an advisory Jan. 22.

Its power rate in December decreased by P1.3139/kWh, from the November average price of P13.2134/kWh.

Last week, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative and the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative also announced slight increases in their residential rates for this billing month.

Ceneco’s average residential rate for January is P10.8350/kWh, up by P0.0656/kWh from last month’s rate of P10.7694/kWh.

Noceco, meanwhile, said its residential rate for January is at P12.2471/kWh, up by P0.4251/kWh from last month’s P11.8220/kWh in December.

They said the hikes were due to increases in the transmission and generation charges.

The three electric cooperatives said their respective Distribution, Supply, and Metering (DSM) charges remain unchanged since 2010, at P1.1866/kWh for Ceneco, and 1.6109/kWh for both Noneco and Noceco.

The DSM charges go to the power coop and being used for maintenance, construction, and administrative as well as daily operations. | CGC
