The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative said last night, May 21, that its average residential rates this billing month decreased by P2.3868 per kilowatt-hour, mainly due to the nationwide suspension of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) operations.
This means that consumers from Victorias, E.B. Magalona, Manapla, Cadiz, Sagay, Escalante, San Carlos, Toboso, and Calatrava will pay P12.0159/kWh, from the P14.4027/kWh rates in April, Noneco said.
“Ang ini nga regulatory suspension nangin epektibo nga nagsalbar sa mga MCOs (member-consumer-owners) paagi sa pagpugong sang ginapaabot nga pagsaka sang presyo sa mercado,” its advisory added.
Noneco is the last of the three power utilities in Bacolod and Negros Occidental that announced lower residential rates in May.
Negros Power, which serves consumers in Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, Silay, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto, earlier said its average electricity rates for May decreased by P0.8655/kWh, or to P11.3808/kWh from P12.2463/kWh last month.
The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative also announced a P1.76/kWh decrease in its average rates for this billing month. This means that consumers in Pulupandan, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pontevedra, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan, Sipalay, Hinoba-an, and La Carlota City will pay P11.45 for each kilowatt hour of electricity consumed, from P13.21kWh in April. | CGC
