As the 39th Negros Trade Fair (NTF), the country’s longest-running provincial trade fair in Metro Manila, opened yesterday at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he is optimistic that it will surpass the sales in previous years.

A total of 139 exhibitors, including 23 local government units of Negros Island Region, are joining the 2025 NTF edition.

Lacson, who led the opening and blessing of the booths, called on Negrenses in Metro Manila and the public to visit the trade fair, which will run until Sept. 28.

Negros Governors Eugenio Jose Lacson and Manuel Sagarbarria, with NegOcc Vice Governor Jose Benito Alonso, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, mayors and board members of Negros Occidental, along with representatives from the Association of Negros Producers and SM, lead the “Arima” — a ceremonial bell ringing to signal the official opening of the 39th Negros Trade Fair at SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City Sept. 23. | GB photo

“We would like you to come here and appreciate the products that we have prepared for you,” Lacson said.

He noted that with a much bigger venue, he expects much better sales compared to last year as he thanked the SM Supermalls management for going all out in advertising the trade fair.

The 39th NTF, organized by the Association of Negros Producers, is themed “Himbon”, a Hiligaynon word which means “to gather”.

The exhibitors from the Negros Island Region are showcasing food, fashion, crafts, and other products.

As the trade fair is getting better and better every year, Lacson said it only shows that the public appreciates the products and food being sold by Negrenses.

“So far, so good,” he said of the first day of the trade fair.

In 2024, the sales was reported at almost P60 million; 2023 – P47.6 million; and 2022 – P33.3 million. | GB
