Former Negros Occidental governor Rafael “Lito” Coscolluela, who heads the “Leni for President” campaign in Negros Occidental, said that with the start of the national campaign period Feb. 8, their identity program “Lugaw” will be converted into “Ligaw for Leni”.
Coscolluela said “the target and main objective now is the conversion into votes. Do we continue with the lugaw? The lugaw program is now being converted to ligaw.”
He said the provincial group leaders will meet today with the regional core group to discuss the specific campaign activities to be done, down to the local government unit level, in the next 90 days before the May 9 elections.
The members of the regional committee will also develop a module for common campaign strategies.
“We are hoping to put together members of the community where we can discuss what are we fighting for, what is this all about, who are the people involved and the candidates, and how they can measure the candidates based on their ability to lead and to give us the government that we deserve,” Coscolluela said.
Part of the module will be for people to understand that the country does not just need a good leader and a good government but also a good citizenship.
It is to remind people that the campaign is not just about Leni, but of learning how to find a good leader and making sure that the people deserve this leader, he added.
The supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo in Bacolod trooped to their provincial headquarters at Gatuslao-Hernaez Streets in the city Feb. 8 to launch the “Pink Fiesta” to kick off the campaign for the presidential bid of Robredo and of vice presidential candidate Francis Pangilinan. — MML
