An 81-year-old female from Valencia town in Negros Oriental, who was admitted to a private hospital in Dumaguete City and died Monday, brought to 20 the number of Covid-19 deaths in the province.
Dr. Liland Estacion, officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental Provincial Health Office, said the patient was diagnosed with critical pneumonia with diabetes complications.
She was the 20th Covid-19 death in the province since the pandemic started in March.
Estacion said the province has 14 new Covid-19 cases, based on data released by the Department of Health in Region 7 yesterday morning.
These include nine from Dumaguete City, three from Sibulan, one from Tayasan and one in Dauin.
There are 714 confirmed cases in Negros Oriental, with 596 recoveries and 98 active cases. The top five local government units with the most number of active cases are Dumaguete with 41, Sibulan 11 cases, 10 in Bais City, eight in Tanjay City, and six in Valencia town, the PHO said. – MML
