Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the opening of the Negros Open National Karatedo Championship, held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central activity center in Bacolod City recently.
The event was participated in by teams from Iloilo, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Bohol, Manila, Cavite, and Negros Occidental.
Renshi Chino Veguillas, chairman of the KPI Referee Council, declared the tournament open, while senpai Andi Gensoli, gold medalist in the 1st Shureido International Championship, led the oath of sportsmanship.
Lacson said in a Capitol press release that the event is a testament to the commitment of the provincial government of Negros Occidental in promoting not just sportsmanship but also discipline and excellence.
He said the tournament is more than just a competition; it is an opportunity for cultural exchange, fostering camaraderie, and building lasting friendships among athletes. ||
