Bacolod Emergency Operations Center executive director Em Ang said the additional 15,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine for the City that arrived June 23 at the Bacolod-Silay Airport will accelerate the rollout that is ongoing in two malls, schools and barangay-based vaccination centers.

Ang added that the newly-arrived vaccines were in addition to the 60,740 doses received by the City since March, bringing the total to 75,740 doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines given to Bacolod by the national government.

The newly-arrived Sinovac vaccines being stored at the Bacolod EOC cold room.

As of June 22, the EOC and COVID-19 Vaccination Council administered a total of 54,849 doses of vaccines to Bacolodnons in the priority groups.

The fresh vaccines were received by Ang, City Health officer-in-charge, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., and EOC deputy for medical, Dr. Chris Sorongon, and immediately stored at the cold storage facility at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office said the additional supply of vaccines received by Negros Occidental on June 23 will also be used in the ongoing vaccination rollout in the towns and cities of the province.

PHO head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said the supply that arrived will replace those intended for the second dose of vaccinees, who received their first Sinovac shots three weeks ago.

The Department of Health earlier allowed the province to utilize the stored vaccines intended for the second dose, and assured that it will replenish the stocks before the start of the scheduled vaccination.

What’s stored now in the PHO cold room, aside from the Sinovac vaccines, are the 5,850 doses of Pfizer. The PHO is waiting for the list of frontliners and persons with comorbidities from the different local government units who will receive the Pfizer vaccine. — MML
