A mobile command center, 30 rescue vehicles, and nine patient transport vehicles (PTVs) were blessed at the Capitol grounds in Dumaguete City recently, as part of efforts to boost the disaster response capabilities of Negros Oriental.
The event was led by Governor Chaco Sagarbarria and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Adrian Sedillo, who jointly unveiled and inspected the array of newly-acquired assets.
“This initiative stands as a testament to strong governance that prioritizes public safety and well-being amid the prevailing environmental challenges,” the Capitol said in a press release, adding the provincial government is gearing towards comprehensive disaster management strategies that not only respond to emergencies but also anticipate these through innovative approaches and planning.
Such leadership is important as communities navigate the complexities posed by climate change and other potential risks, it added. ||
