The Bacolod Gugma Foundation has released the official street dance route for both the schools and barangays’ categories of the arena and street dance competition, today and tomorrow respectively, a centerpiece event that continues to captivate thousands of MassKara festivalgoers each year.

The excitement begins this afternoon, starting at 1 p.m., with the schools’ arena competition at the Paglaum Sports Complex, where contingents will first showcase their choreographed performances before heading out into the streets for the traditional street dance parade.

From Paglaum, performers will move along Hernaez Street, making their way to Araneta Street, which will serve as the main corridor for public viewing and judging.

Festival director Rodney Mitz Ascalon confirmed that three official judging points have been established along Araneta Street to evaluate the street performance segment.

These key locations are Rizal Elementary School, Lopue’s San Sebastian, and the old Bacolod City Hall.

“These areas are not just judging stations but also excellent viewing spots for the public who want to witness the performers up close and feel the energy of the street celebration,” Ascalon said in a statement Oct. 17.

After completing their route, all contingents will converge at the Bacolod public plaza, where the festivities will continue with music, dancing, and a communal celebration as the city awaits the announcement of winners.

The arena and street dance competition remains as one of the most iconic events of the MassKara Festival, embodying this year’s theme, “One Smile, One City, One Heart”. It highlights not only the artistic and cultural talent of Bacolodnons but also the unifying spirit that makes the city’s signature festival truly world-class.

Organizers encourage the public to arrive early, plan their routes accordingly, and join the fun in the designated public viewing areas. ||
