P4.7M shabu seized in Bacolod, Victorias

Police seized about P4.7 million in suspected shabu and arrested three men in two anti-drug operations in Bacolod City and Victorias City in Negros Occidental Feb. 10.

The Victorias City Police Station operatives and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Jesther Soquena, 46, of Doña Juliana Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, and Biboy Dacumos of Lison, Brgy. 1, both in Bacolod, in a buy-bust operation at Osmeña Avenue, national highway in Hacienda Cristina, Brgy. 21, Victorias City, at past 5 p.m. Feb. 10.

The police seized from Soquena, tagged as Top 1 city level drug personality, and Dacumos, several sachets of suspected shabu, all weighing about 500 grams and worth around P3.4 million, P1,000 in buy-bust money, boodle money, and a Toyota Vios.

The suspects are under the custody of the Victorias police while the drug items were turned over to the PNP Negros Occidental Crime Laboratory.

The Bacolod Police Station 8 Drug Enforcement Team, led by P/Maj. Joery Puerto, also arrested Mark Daniel Angas, 39, of Barangay 14, in the buy-bust operation in Purok Kabulakan, Brgy. Singcang, Bacolod, past 9 p.m. Feb. 10.

The operation yielded sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 205 grams and worth P1,394,000, and P1,000 in marked money.

Angas is categorized as a street level target in the campaign against illegal drugs, and the police believed that one of his contacts is detained at the Taculing District Jail.

He was subjected to inquest proceedings this morning, Feb. 11, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — MML
