The Capitol-owned Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia, Negros Occidental is up for further development as the provincial government purchased the 10 hectares of land in its vicinity.

The property, amounting to P80 million, surrounds the famous seven falls inside the resort.

“The provincial government now has control and ownership over the land of the falls and the river systems,” Diaz said.

The province purchased the land from the Mambukal Real Estate Corporation.

Diaz said the development of Mambukal will include the construction of a world- class hotel and tourism features for  hiking, trail running, biking and  horseback riding.

“We will offer services about two notches higher and better than the current tourism services and features the resort offers,” he added.

Mid-market and high-end hotel rooms will be constructed “so that we can have a share of foreign tourists,” Diaz said.

He also said that the province is looking into the establishment of a tramline and zipline from the seventh falls to the resort proper.

Diaz noted that with accessibility through Camp Nolan, trekking will not only go through the river, but also in the upper portion of the resort to prevent dangers of landslides and flashfloods.

“Depending on the recommendation of the geologist and architects, a pathway will be made either cemented or with dirt,” he further said. | GB
