Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued an appeal today for the Bacolod City government to respect the decision of the provincial government in requiring Negros-inbound passengers, including Bacolod City residents passing through the airport in Silay City, Negros Occidental, to have an S-PaSS registration.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued Executive Order No. 53 that allows travel into Bacolod without the need for an S-PaSS since the city government is now under Alert Level 2.

But Lacson retained the S-PaSS requirement for travelers passing through the airport.

He said the Bacolod City government should also respect the decision of the province, stressing that the provincial government never questioned the guidelines set by the city for the BREDCO and Banago ports in Bacolod, “because we respected that it is their area”.

“So, I hope they will also respect our decision, with regards to the airport,” Lacson said. – GB
