The Provincial Health Office (PHO) is urging residents affected by the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano to wear face mask for protection from respiratory ailments.
Dr. Ma. Girlie Pinongan, provincial health officer, said residents were not wearing face masks as they have observed during their series of visits to areas in the cities of Bago and La Carlota, which recently hit by ashfall.
This prompted the PHO to send more face masks to the affected areas, she added.
Volcanic ash can cause skin and eye irritation, trigger asthma attacks, and exacerbate existing respiratory conditions. | GB
