Kabankalan, San Carlos typhoon victims receive assistance

The Kabankalan City government said it already released P50,205,000 in housing assistance to victims of Typhoon Odette, as of Jan. 28.

Mayor Pedro Zayco said the financial assistance is from local funds, and aimed to help those whose houses were destroyed by Odette, adding that the first batch of recipients received their cash aid Dec. 30.

Recipients, whose houses were damaged, got P3,000 while those with destroyed homes received P4,000, a press release from the city said.

Data showed that Kabankalan City has released assistance to 3,202 beneficiaries with damaged houses and 1,067 with homes wrecked by the typhoon.

After the documents of the remaining barangays will be validated, the cash assistance of their affected residents will be released this week, the City Social Welfare and Development Office said.

Meanwhile, the San Carlos CSWDO also continued distributing cash aid to families affected by Odette Jan. 29 at the Brgy. 4 covered court.

A total of 185 families of barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and San Juan received P1,000 to a maximum of P5,000 per household for their partially or destroyed houses.

The CSWDO already distributed cash assistance to 64 households from Barangay Rizal and 62 households of Brgy. Buluangan Jan. 28, and is set to resume the distribution in Bagonbon on Jan. 31. — NND
