Former Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez has yet to issue a statement on lawyer Caesar Distrito’s announcement that he is running for vice mayor of Bacolod City under “Team Albee”.
Benitez, who earlier announced that he is definitely running for mayor, said he will announce his complete slate anytime soon. Reports from his camp said he is filing his Certificate of Candidacy on October 5.
This afternoon, Oct. 2, Distrito posted on his Facebook Page a video clip of him announcing his intention of running for vice mayor under Team Albee.
With Distrito in the video clip are incumbent councilors Bart Orola and Simple Distrito, and Pao Sy, daughter of the late Councilor Elmer Sy, who also announced their candidacies under the Benitez-Distrito tandem.
Orola and the Distritos are identified with the Grupo Progreso of incumbent mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Also in the list as councilors under the Benitez-Distrito tandem that was leaked on social media are former councilor Kalaw Puentevella, former vice mayor Jude Thaddy Sayson, Homer Bais, Vladi Gonzalez, Patrick Lacson, Jayson Villarosa, Atty. Sonya Verdeflor, incumbent councilor Al Victor Espino, and Atty. Mark Mayo. – NND
