Hinoba-an policeman dies of COVID-19

A 51-year-old non-commissioned officer of the Philippine National Police assigned in  Hinoba-an town died from the coronavirus disease 2019 Tuesday, Nov. 3.

P/Lt. Wilma Silva, outgoing deputy public information officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said the death of the NOCPPO personnel brought to two the number of policemen in Western Visayas, who succumbed to COVID-19.

He died while on confinement at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, Silva said.

Silva said the fatality was the only COVID patient in uniform from the province to expire from coronavirus among  the 36 policemen, based in Negros Occidental, who tested positive.

His remains were immediately cremated, she added.

The first COVID-19 fatality from Region 6 was assigned in Panay, PNP records showed.

All of the 35  police personnel from Negros Occidental who tested positive for COVID-19 had already recovered.

 Majority of them donated blood plasma to the CLMMRH blood bank for use by other patients, Silva said.

As of Nov. 4,  the PNP Health Service reported 439 COVID-19 active cases and 23 deaths all over the country. – GPB
