Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson

It may be optional, but Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said he never stopped wearing face masks.

Lacson was responding to reports from independent monitoring team OCTA Research that Negros Occidental exceeded the five-percent threshold on COVID-19 positivity rate as recommended by the World Health Organization.

OCTA said that 7.5 percent of COVID-19 tests in Negros Occidental turned out to be positive.

Lacson encouraged all Negrenses to remain vigilant against the COVID-19 infection and to keep on wearing face masks, especially in crowded places.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. earlier ordered the wearing of face masks while inside government offices in Cadiz City, including those transacting business at City Hall, after two department heads tested positive for coronavirus disease./GB
