Former Bredco port consultant, Daniel Alfonso Atayde, is among the five candidates for congressman of the Lone District of Bacolod City in the May 2022 elections.

The others are reelectionist Greg Gasataya, Narciso San Miguel, Wilfredo David, and Romy Gustilo.

Atayde is the manager of Sea Asia Logistics for Visayas which is involved in port operations. He was born in Davao and studied at the then La Salle College in Bacolod before he went to Manila for work.

He stayed in Bacolod for almost 23 years and married a Bacoleña, Helen Jocson. Atayde listed Barangay Villamonte as his address in Bacolod City.

Atayde said his expertise in running a port business was passed on by his father, Ramon, who is the former president of the Asian Terminal in Cebu.

He opened a merchandize and retail of imported goods in Bacolod, he added.

Atayde said he sees the need to make Bacolod economically-vibrant. He said he sees the potential of the City to attract investors and he plans to bring them in if given a chance to represent Bacolodnons in Congress.

He said he considered running for congressman of Bacolod for a long time because of his vision to create jobs and livelihood for people who are earning less.

Atayde’s brother, Ramon, is the husband of actress Sylvia Sanchez, and the father of actor Arjo Atayde, who is also running for congressman in the 1st District of Quezon City. — MML
