United Negros Alliance (UnegA) president Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said on Tuesday (April 16) that they have already chosen a vice gubernatorial candidate, who will be the runningmate of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson in the May 2025 elections.

Ferrer, however, said it is not yet the proper time to announce their choice.

He earlier expressed his intention to run for the Negros Occidental fourth district congressional post to succeed his wife, Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer,

The coalition between UnegA and Love Negros, which is headed by Lacson, started in 2019 through the efforts of the late governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and then Third District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, where they fielded Lacson as governor and Ferrer as vice governor, a tandem that carried over to the 2022 elections, and is expected to continue in the mid-term elections next year.

“We already have an internal agreement,” Ferrer said, adding that “it’s too early” to announce.

On Monday, Lacson said he is still waiting for the decision of the UnegA for his runningmate.

“The choice is final because I’m the one who made the choice. Unless otherwise, I may still change my mind. Everything is still not final,” Ferrer said.

The filing of certificate of candidacy for next year elections is slated October this year. | GB
