Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo announced that all the medalists, their coaches and coordinators in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa, Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet, the Regional Schools Press Conference, and regional and national Festival of Talents (FOT) will receive cash incentives from the Dumaguete City government.
The regional winners in CVIRAA, FOT, and RSPC will be awarded P3,000 for each gold medal, P2,500 for silver, and P2,000 for bronze medalist, the city said Aug. 13.
Winners of the Palarong Pambansa and the national FOT will receive P7,000, P5,000, and P4,000 for gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.
Remollo commended the medalists and their coaches for bringing honor and pride to Dumaguete City in the different regional and national competitions, and expressed hope that they will be motivated to become the next generation of outstanding athletes representing the Philippines in international sports events.
The athletes with their coaches paid a courtesy call on Remollo Tuesday afternoon with Schools Division Supt. Marina Salamanca, Dr. Juditha Mapue, and other DepEd officials.
Dumaguete City athletes won 10 gold, three silver, and three bronze medals in the Palarong Pambansa; 88 golds, 100 silver, and 104 bronzes during the CVIRAA; 10 gold, 23 silver, and 22 bronze medals in the regional FOT; five bronzes during the national Festival of Talents, and nine gold, 23 silver, and 21 bronze medals during the Regional Schools Press Conference.
The cash incentives will be released once approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and awarding procedure completed.
The city government provided free food, transportation, and full set of uniforms to all athletes, coaches, and technical officials of the Dumaguete delegation to the 2024 CVIRAA in Cebu City to boost the morale of the student-athletes as they compete for sports honor and glory. ||
