DILG-Negros Occ resumes operations

The provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Negros Occidental resumed its normal operations yesterday, Feb. 1.

The resumption of its operations was decided after 18 of its personnel tested negative for COVID-19.

The DILG-Negros Occidental was locked down from Jan. 26 to 29 for disinfection, after an Iloilo-based ranking official of the agency, who attended the Provincial Anti-Drug Summit at the Negros Residences on Jan. 22, had been tested positive for the virus.

The results of the COVID-19 testing for DILG L Provincial Director Roselyn Quintana and 17 other employees turned out negative, confirmed Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, PDEA Assistant Regional Director Donelyn Hemedez, DILG Assistant Regional Director Maria Saldua, Board Member Juvy Pepello, Col. Romy Palgue, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, and 49 other police personnel, who attended the drug summit, were also tested negative of the virus, Diaz said.

The DILG regional office in Iloilo, where 23 of its personnel tested positive for the virus, will also resume its face-to-face operations Monday. – GB
