Due to delays in sending bills to its consumers, Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) announced Wednesday, Dec. 4, that they will not implement power disconnections and there will be no imposition of penalties.
Rocella Ann Marie Fernandez, head of the Revenue Management Department of Negros Power, explained that the delay was due to the transition from Central Negros Electric Cooperative to Negros Power.
Fernandez said that since this is the first bill issued by Negros Power, several processes, including Data Migration, were required to gather and verify consumer data, which caused temporary delays in the release of some bills.
She also cited additional factors contributing to the delay, such as old meters that could not be read and instances of sudden increases or decreases in consumption, which requires investigation to ensure the accuracy of the bills.
Fernandez said that consumers who receive multiple bills at once will be given a one-month extension for payment.
“Ma expect kita nga sa mga masunod nga bulan, ma normal na ang pag deliver sang bill magluwas sa mga may problema sa ila kuntador nga gulpi nagtaas kag nubo indi nyo gid mabaton insigida inyo bill bangud subject ina sa investigation,” Fernandez said in a statement issued by Negros Power. | GB
