The Central Negros Electric Cooperative said July 15 that its average residential rate this billing month increased by P0.5825 per kilowatt-hour.

This means that member-consumers of Ceneco from Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto will be paying P13.3457/kWh, from the P12.7632/kWh rate in June.

The P0.5825/kWh upward adjustment is mainly attributed to the increase in the total generation charge, which went up by 6.67 percent, largely because of the P1.6253/kWh rise in the cost of electricity in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Ceneco said that from the P8.8040/kWh WESM price last month, the cost went up to P10.4293/kWh this July.

Its residential rate in June decreased by P2.40/kWh, from P15.1632/kWh in May. | CGC
