Member-consumers of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative continue to enjoy decreased average residential rates for this month, or at P12.7371 per kilowatt-hour from last month’s rate of P13.6716/kWh.
This as Ceneco announced Monday, April 17, a P0.9345/kWh rate reduction mainly due to decreases in total generation charges of 9.18 percent, compared to the billing month of March.
Total generation charges from power suppliers, like the Palm Concepcion Power Corporation, Green Core Geothermal Inc., CENPRI, and the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, decreased to P8.9709/kWh this April, from P8.4340/kWh in March, the Ceneco advisory said.
Since the start of 2023, Ceneco’s average residential rates have been decreasing, or at P15.1057/kWh in January, P14.8756/kWh in February, and P13.6716/kWh last month.
The biggest decrease, so far, of P1.2040/kWh was noted in March, and attributed to the downward adjustment of P3.68/kWh in the fuel cost of PCPC under its 20-megawatt Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Ceneco, a P0.2619/kWh in the fuel cost of PCPC’s 35MW PSA, fuel discount of P1.05/kWh, and the continuing suspension in the collection of the Feed-in Tariff Allowance (FIT-All), equivalent to P0.0364/kWh.
The suspension will be until August this year. FIT-All is a uniform charge imposed on all on-grid electricity consumers, and is a component in the power bill to ensure the development and promotion of renewable energy in the country.
The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative also earlier reported a P1.1062/kWh reduction in its residential rates this billing month of April. This means that consumers being served by Noceco will pay P14.3856/kWh from last month’s rate of P15.4918/kWh./CGC
