In support to the plans of the provincial government to subject its employees to random drug testing, the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE) is taking the lead with its officers and staff submitting for voluntary drug test, its president, Ruben Diamante, said Sunday, Aug. 6.

As officers of PACE, Diamante said they want to “set an example”.

This was after Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, admitted to receiving reports that some provincial government employees are not only using the illegal substance but are also peddling prohibited drugs at Capitol establishments.

During PACE’s regular meeting Aug. 5, Diamante said they approved a resolution to submit themselves to voluntary drug testing to support a “drug-free workplace”.

“PACE advocates for a drug-free workforce. We are also supporting the plan of the provincial government to subject all employees and officials to a drug test,” he added.

The provincial government is scheduled to conduct another bidding, after the first bidding failed, for the purchase of drug testing kits that will be used in the random drug testing of its employees, Diaz said.

He stressed the need to hasten the bidding for the drug test kits to identify who among the employees are using illegal substance, adding that the rumors remain unsubstantiated, as of this time. / GB
