The provincial government of Negros Occidental has entered into a partnership with National University (NU) Bacolod to establish a five-year scholarship program for qualified Negrense college students.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and NU Bacolod Executive and Academic Director Ryan Joy Dizon led the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) in a ceremony held at the school campus on Tuesday, July 21.
In his message, Lacson said the partnership reflects the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring that financial limitations do not prevent deserving Negrenses, particularly those from the countryside, from pursuing quality higher education.
The Accelerating the Mission of Learning and Inclusive Growth (AMLIG) Scholarship program is valued at up to P6.8 million annually.
The financial aid package covers full tuition, miscellaneous fees, and other institutional school costs for beneficiaries enrolled across eligible undergraduate programs at NU Bacolod.
AMLIG program is under the supervision of the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP) Division and will cover academic years 2026-2027 to 2030-2031, benefiting qualified NU Bacolod students residing in Negros Occidental.
It also establishes a collaborative framework for the screening and selection of scholars, academic monitoring, and the implementation of scholarship retention requirements.
Lacson commended NU Bacolod for its commitment to making quality education more accessible and encouraged the scholars to take full advantage of the opportunity and become responsible students who will contribute to the development of their communities and the progress of Negros Occidental.
