‘Buntis’ congress in Victorias

Eighty pregnant women participated in the Buntis Congress and availed of free services and lectures on maternal healthcare at the Victorias City Coliseum lobby recently.

The participants were enlightened on various topics, including healthy lifestyle, newborn care, STI-HIV/AIDS program, prenatal and postnatal care, expanded program on immunization, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, mental health/postpartum depression, and family planning.

They also underwent free biochemistry laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and HIV/syphilis, received tetanus toxoid shots, and availed of dental and blood pressure check-ups.

Tokens from the Kaayong Lawas Foundation were also distributed to the expecting mothers, the city said in a press release.

Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III graced the event, along with councilors Danilo De Asis Jr., chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Public Health, Audie Malaga and Derek Palanca, among others.

The annual activity, organized by the City Health Office and the City Nutrition Committee, is part of the ongoing 50th Nutrition Month celebration of Victorias.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), meanwhile, led a community and leadership development workshop for the Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) presidents in Murcia recently.

Twenty-two ERPAT presidents from organized groups in Victorias participated in the two-day workshop that was aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and attitude of Victoriasanon fathers on their paternal roles and responsibilities.

The event featured resource persons Rainy Leih Degillo and Rogelio Aguirre, who provided valuable insights and guidance.

The workshop is part of the ongoing efforts of the CSWDO to promote strong and effective leadership within the ERPAT organization, ensuring that fathers are well-equipped to impact their families and communities positively. ||
