The Bago City Police Station in Negros Occidental led by PLt. Col. Jay Malong yesterday received P4.55 million worth of firearms, ammunition and accessories from the city government.

The turn-over ceremony was led by Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres.

“We hope this will help the police station in its bid to ensure peace and order in the community,” Yulo said.

The equipment comprised eight units of assault rifles, 13,000 rounds of ammunition, 5,000 pieces of 9mm heads, five pounds of gun powder, 5,000 pieces of 9mm primer and one set of ammunition reloader.

Others included eight pieces of tactical ballistic vest, eight pieces combat helmet, eight pieces hard plate, one ballistic shield, eight pieces swat uniform, eight pieces tactical boots and one battering ram.

These were purchased by the city government as support to the local police force, particularly to its newly-formed Special Weapons and Tactics team.

Malong said the support given by local government is a big boost not only to local peace and order, but also to the morale of the city police personnel. ||
