The Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental, will resume the accommodation of tourists next month, Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said.

Diaz said that after the less than 10 COVID patients complete their quarantine, the province will start disinfecting the area so that it is ready to accept tourists by December.

“We want people to visit Mambukal as a place to enjoy and relax, and not for the isolation and healing of persons infected with COVID-19. We want to reopen Mambukal for tourism,” he stressed.

Only fully vaccinated persons will be allowed entry to Mambukal.

Diaz admitted that it is still a challenge to educate residents who follow their beliefs and the fake news. The province needs to intensify the campaign on the benefits of vaccinated persons to convince those still hesitant to get the shots.

He noted that the three airline companies have also started their daily trips to Negros Occidental, and this is expected to encourage local tourists to visit the province, rev up the economy, and bring down the airfare. — MML
