Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said Sept. 14 that the City Legal Office (CLO) is preparing to file charges against the 36-year-old man, who was caught in the act sawing off metal sidewalk railings outside the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) along Araneta Street.
“In cooperation with our POSO personnel, the suspect was caught in the act of cutting steel bars in front of NOHS,” Gasataya said.
The suspect, a resident of Purok Kingfisher in Barangay 16, Bacolod, was seen by an on-duty guard from the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) sawing off the steel railings at around 1:40 a.m. Sept. 13, the police said.
POSO personnel apprehended the suspect and turned him over to Police Station 1, where he remains in custody.
Gasataya said that, according to investigators, the suspect could be linked to similar incidents in other areas across the highly-urbanized city. | TMD
