The IPM Construction and Development Corp. will continue to manage and operate the sanitary landfill of Bacolod City in Brgy. Felisa until April 30 next year, following the extension of the contract for four months.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod also earlier confirmed the one-month extension, or until Jan. 31, of the contract of IPM to collect, haul, and dispose of garbage in the highly-urbanized city.
Mayor Alfredo Benitez and IPM president Isabelita Mercado signed the two contracts effective May this year and are set to lapse on Dec. 31, with the city paying the contractor P63.99 million for eight months, or P7.99 million a month for each contract of services.
In both extensions, Benitez took note of a contract provision which states that the deal “is renewable or can be extended for not more than four months at the option solely of the City Government, as represented by the chief executive”, if “still necessary and until a new bidding is successfully completed”.
Mercado said the IPM accepts the extension of the contract for the management and operation of the sanitary landfill.
“We are grateful for the trust and continuing opportunity to be of service to the City of Bacolod and we fully assure your good office of our commitment to deliver improved and consistent services for the City,” she said in her letter-reply to Benitez Dec. 12.
The SP already passed Resolutions of No Objection, and confirmed the respective contract extensions, as per the request of Benitez. | CGC
