Himamaylan City officials and representatives of NHMFC also conducted a site inspection Feb. 8 of the ongoing construction of the socialized housing project.

Tongson said he is looking forward to a positive development on the proposal of the Himamaylan local government unit to the financing agency.

“This collaboration will definitely help pay back our untiring government employees for ensuring that we deliver quality service to Himamaylanons,” Tongson said in a press release Feb. 16, referring to the recent awards received by the city government, such as the back-to-back Seal of Good Local Governance and Good Housekeeping awards from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Meanwhile, Tongson also visited the site of the MRTahanan at Gawad Kalinga, Brgy. 3-Poblacion, Feb. 15.

This project is under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, headed by Secretary Jose Acuzar.

Worth about P4 billion, the MRTahanan project is expected to house 3,000 Himamaylanon families.

Acuzar and Tongson signed the memorandum of understanding Oct. 18, 2023, while the groundbreaking is expected this year. ||
