SM City Bacolod kicked off its MassKara Festival season with “AweSM Salubong 2026” Oct. 1 at the main atrium, setting the stage for a month of activities and mall experiences celebrating Bacolod’s biggest festival.
AweSM Salubong also officially launched AweSM Bacolod 2026, the mall’s signature campaign for the city’s major festivals. The NU Bulldogs on Beat dance troupe brought the rhythm and energy of MassKara to the kickoff with a colorful festival dance performance, giving mallgoers an early taste of the celebrations ahead.
The event also marked the first live appearance of Kara the Masked Fairy, SM City Bacolod’s official mall mascot and newest member of its family.
Previously seen in the mall’s digital campaigns and as a larger-than-life installation hovering near the Wonder Falls at the main atrium, Kara now comes to life as a character who can meet and interact with mallgoers.
Magical, charming and full of sparkle, Kara was created to embody the fun and celebratory spirit of SM City Bacolod, its press release said, adding that mallgoers can expect to see more of her throughout MassKara and in future mall celebrations.
