The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N), one of the country’s longest-running art associations, said it will launch its latest exhibition, dubbed “Arte Negrense: Forma”, at the recently-opened Calle Catorce at Lacson Street on Feb. 22.
This is in celebration of the National Arts Month, and will feature 22 Negrense artists from the AAB-N.
“Forma” is expected to be a visually-stunning display, spotlighting the groundbreaking works of AAB-N’s founding father, Edgardo “Budot” Lizares, and founding member Larry Tronco, recognized as forerunners of abstract art in Negros, the group said in a press release.
“In a poignant gesture, the families of these late artists will generously loan some of their masterpieces to the association, in honor of AABN’s upcoming 50th anniversary in 2025,” the group added.
Featured artists are Rodney Martinez, Edbon Sevilleno, Fred Orig, Revo Yanson, Lloyd Tronco, Natalio Alob Jr., AAB-N president Tey Sevilleno, mosaic artist and watercolorist Gigi Campos, designer Manon Hernaez, Pinky Fuentebella-Lizares, Jenn Abeto, Konica Faustino, Princy Martir, Fe Sumagaysay;
Sol Alejandrino, Jaycee Seran, Noah Sian, Ryn Paul Gonzales, and Beto Tiano for works spanning enamel on glass, watercolors, and acrylics; and new members Annabelle Apawan, Merle Alova, and Mei Lonasco.
The exhibit will run until May 31, 2024. For more information, contact AABN via email at aabnegros50@gmail.com, or follow them on social media: OfficialAABNegros on Facebook and artbacolodnegros on Instagram. ||
