Albee, Greg take oaths

Bacolod City mayor-elect Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez, re-electionist congressman Greg Gasataya, and councilors-elect under the Team Asenso team took their oaths of office before Singcang Barangay Captain Rosinie Distrito Thursday.

The barangay delivered the biggest margin of votes for Benitez and Gasataya in the May 9 elections, against incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia and his tandem, businessman Dan Atayde, at 5,662 and 7,247 votes, respectively.

The Team Asenso bet for vice mayor, former councilor Caesar Distrito, is the brother of Rosinie, while re-electionist councilor Simple Distrito is their mother.

“Ang amon nga promisa nga pagbag-o sa Bacolod magasugod subong,” Benitez said at the oath-taking ceremony witnessed by officials and residents of the barangay and supporters.

He added that he will go the extra mile in governance and service for Bacolod City.

Gasataya, who took his oath with his wife and children beside him, said no one will be left behind in the incoming administration.

“This is my commitment to the people of Bacolod as I took my oath this morning along with Mayor Albee Benitez and the rest of the Team Asenso councilors. Like we said, governance in the city of Bacolod shall be inclusive and everyone shall benefit,” he added.

“As you stood firm for me, I stand for nothing but your best interest,” the solon said as he thanked the Bacolodnons for his third and final term in the House of Representatives.

Councilors-elect Distrito, Vladimir Gonzalez, and Jason Villarosa also took their oaths before the barangay captain, witnessed by their family members and barangays officials./CGC
