Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said he has granted the request of Philippine Airlines for special flights for fully vaccinated individuals to Negros Occidental, from Oct. 18 to Nov. 29 this year.
This was in response to the request of PAL manager Rene Aviles to allow the airline to transport fully vaccinated individuals from Manila to Bacolod.
Aviles said all passengers will avail of a special discounted rate of P3,750 all-in-fare without undergoing RT–PCR testing.
Lacson said he was informed by the PAL management that the scheduled flight will depart Manila at around 8 a.m. and will arrive at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport at around 9:20 a.m., every Monday and Friday only.
Provincial consultant Alfredo “Albee” Benitez also said yesterday that the PAL special flights will cater to residents of Bacolod, considering that the city government will also no longer require RT-PCR test for fully vaccinated residents coming home.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued an executive order that eased travel restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.
Aviles said selling of tickets for these flights started yesterday, Oct. 14, and will be available on selected travel agents and PAL direct ticket offices, and not through their website.
He added that the special flights aim to help promote the vaccination program of the government.
Inbound travelers to Negros Occidental are given the option to either post their negative RT-PCR result or their vaccination card via the S-PaSS system.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said that all vaccination cards should be reflected in the provincial Management Information System or the vaccination portal of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), to ensure authenticity. – GB
