Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas has been promoted to the rank of major general following his designation as the commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.

Escanillas, who previously served as commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade in Negros Island, earned the promotion in recognition of his exemplary leadership and dedication, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

His appointment places him at the helm of one of the Army’s major operational units responsible for maintaining peace and security in Western and Central Visayas.

The AFP also announced the appointments of two brigadier generals to key Philippine Army commands.

Brig. Gen. Lennon Babilonia officially assumed the role of acting commander of the Army’s Education and Training Command on July 24.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1993, Babilonia previously served with the 3rd Infantry Division.

He succeeded Lt. Gen. Michael Logico, who was earlier designated as superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Prudencio Iddoba also took command of the Army Support Command.

He replaced Maj. Gen. Florante Sison, who retired upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 57.
