The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) recognized the police investigators behind the swift resolution of the killing of an American marine biologist as it marked the promotion of 167 police personnel during twin ceremonies held on July 27 and July 29 at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.
The highlight of the July 27 awarding ceremony was the recognition of the Carpenter Special Investigation Task Group in the robbery with homicide case involving the 73-year-old Kent Carpenter.
The victim was killed on July 12 in Purok 3, Barangay Ajong, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
Through intensive investigation, authorities identified the suspects behind the death of Carpenter on the same day and filed criminal charges against the six suspects, four of whom were arrested.
Awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan for outstanding performance were PCol. Timmar Alam, the Negros Oriental police provincial director, as well as PCapt. Mary Jean Gutierrez, PMSg Clifford Larena, and PCpl Rolly Jay Balasabas.
Also recognized for their meritorious service were PMaj. Eugene Tolentino, PCpl Joe Francis Perez, and PCpl Francis Mombay for their contributions to the successful investigation and arrest operations.
On July 29, the PRO-NIR also conducted the simultaneous oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks for 167 newly promoted police personnel.
They included 18 Police Majors, four Police Captains, 12 Police Lieutenants, 42 Police Chief Master Sergeants, five Police Senior Master Sergeants, 20 Police Master Sergeants, 34 Police Staff Sergeants, and 32 Police Corporals. | GPB
