Former Bacolod congressman, Atty. John Orola, who is the liaison of the PDP-Laban- Cusi faction in Negros Occidental, said he was informed by PDP Manila that the meeting on Sept. 4 in the province was postponed.

Orola said the local meeting will push through after the PDP-Laban convention in Manila on Sept. 8, in compliance with the requirements of the Commission on Elections.

The rift between the PDP-Laban Cusi wing and that of the Pimentel faction has to be resolved first before the conduct of party consultation in Negros Occidental, he added.

Orola is reportedly being groomed by certain groups to run for governor of Negros Occidental. He said he was in communication with the committee head of the PDP-Laban Cusi wing but he has yet to decide on his own since there are many factors to be considered before running for any political post, he added.

Orola earlier confirmed he had transferred his voter registration record from Bacolod City to Don Salvador Benedicto, and was rumoured that he might challenge incumbent Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Orola said he is not sure if former congressman Albee Benitez is still the provincial chairman of PDP-Laban in Negros.

Benitez’s camp said the former solon, who already declared his intention to run for mayor of Bacolod, is in Metro Manila. – MML
