Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) continued to offer the lowest electricity rate among three power distribution utilities in Negros Occidental in October despite a slight increase in its rates.

Negros Power’s electricity rate rose by P0.0204 per kilowatt hour (kWh), from P14.2487 in September to P14.2691 in October, the smallest increase among the three utilities.

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) recorded the biggest increase of P0.4807 per kWh, bringing its rate from P17.1454 in September to P17.6261 in October.

Meanwhile, the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) increased its rate by P0.0863 per kWh, from P16.1428 to P16.2291.

Negros Power said the rate adjustments were attributed to higher prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market and other factors affecting electricity procurement costs.

Despite the increases, Negros Power’s October rate remained significantly lower than those of Noneco and Noceco. | GPB
