Pag-IBIG Fund is urging homebuyers in the Visayas to take advantage of a housing fair at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on Oct. 27-28, where more than 11,000 housing units will be offered by 26 developers.

Kenneth Macoy, chief of the Countryside Housing Initiative under Pag-IBIG Fund’s Business Development Department-Visayas, announced the two-day event during a media forum Oct. 20.

The Visayas Housing Fair will offer prospective buyers access to housing options and promotional financing rates.

“This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos and aligned with the direction of our DHSUD (Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling to provide and expand access to affordable housing financing based on the member’s capacity,” Macoy said.

He said Pag-IBIG Fund hopes to maximize the number of units acquired through the fair.

Eligible buyers can avail themselves of a three percent subsidized interest rate for socialized housing loans during the first five years. Members applying for loans of more than P1.8 million up to P4.9 million can qualify for a 4.5 percent rate, while loans above P4.9 million up to P10 million carry a 5.75 percent rate for the first three years.

The promotional rates are available only until end of this year.

Pag-IBIG Fund Western Visayas area head Stanley Alayon said 3,679 of the agency’s 557,216 members in the region have obtained new or better homes through its housing programs. He clarified that the figure does not necessarily mean other members without housing loans already own homes.

Alayon said the fair aims to make affordable and sustainable housing more accessible.

Gina Lanceta, head of the Pag-IBIG Fund Iloilo-Mandurriao branch, encouraged young professionals to consider applying for housing loans early rather than waiting until they get married.

“We encourage them to avail (of housing loans) even if they are not married because housing loans and properties accelerate. So, you start young,” she said in a Philippine News Agency report.

Meanwhile, more than 45,700 home seekers preregistered for the two-day 2nd National Housing Expo 2026 in Manila, where over 80 private real estate developers offered about 50,000 ready-for-occupancy housing units.

Thousands also attended the Oct. 19-20 expo, organized by Pag-IBIG Fund and DHSUD. Participating developers offered subdivision and condominium units under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, with special prices, promotional deals and exclusive buyer incentives.

Aliling thanked attendees and expressed hope that the expo helped them move closer to owning decent and affordable homes. He also thanked private developers, key shelter agencies, and Pag-IBIG Fund for supporting the event and offering housing projects under the Expanded 4PH Program. ||
