The mixed movements in the per-liter price of petroleum products will continue for the third straight week, with diesel up by P0.10 to P0.45, and gasoline and kerosene to decrease by P4.20 to P4.50, and P0.30 to P0.80, respectively.
Exact adjustments will be known today, Oct. 19, with price movements usually implemented every Tuesday.
The volatility in the pump prices is still mainly due to hostilities in the Middle East, disrupting energy supplies and damaging facilities.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has already announced plans to expand green mobility hubs nationwide to promote electric vehicles (EVs), encourage clean energy use, and support more sustainable and affordable public transportation.
Marcos highlighted the potential cost savings from operating EVs, particularly those charged using solar energy, adding that lower energy expenses could translate into higher take-home earnings for drivers and operators, while helping ease the financial burden on commuters.
“The savings for drivers and operators are substantial. This scheme will be very beneficial, so we really need to roll it out nationwide,” he said in a recent Philippine News Agency report, adding the projected savings could help ease the financial burden of drivers and operators. | CGC
