The 210-square-meter MassKara 3D street art mural project at Gonzaga-Araneta Street, in front of the Bacolod City Government Center replica, was unveiled Oct. 10.

Mayor Greg Gasataya led the official inauguration of the artwork completed by the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Bacolod Chapter and the La Consolacion College (LCC) Bacolod-School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design College, with support from Davies Paints and Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc.

“More than an artistic installation, this collaboration reflects the creativity, innovation, and community engagement of LCCB students as they bring their classroom learning into a meaningful public experience,” the LCC Bacolod said.

The art mural, created from Oct. 5 to 9, is called “Smile and Gugma: Street & Pedestrian Art”, and forms part of the centennial celebration of the Bacolod public plaza and of the MassKara Festival 2026.

It also marks World Architecture Day 2026, weaving the global theme “Housing is a Human Right. Build It”.

Gasataya expressed appreciation to the partner-organizations for bringing the concept to fruition shortly after initial discussions held the previous week.

The street art is expected to remain on display for three months. | TMD
